Abstract

Every individual is able to survive despite having to face various difficulties in life. On the other hand, individuals who are unable to survive in life will experience an unhappy life. This study was conducted to identify the resilience of guardians in an organization in Sungai Petani, Kedah. This study employed a quantitative method through simple random sampling involving 66 respondents who are caregivers of autistic children at the Sungai Petani Autism Parent Support Organization, Kedah. The instrument utilized to obtain data was through The Resilience Scale-II questionnaire and the study data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 software. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that only one caregiver has a high level of resilience, sixty-two people have a moderate level of resilience and three people have a low level of resilience. This finding showed that caregivers of autistic children in the organization need a source of strength to rise up and to increase resilience in facing risky situations or conditions such as taking care of autistic children. The outcomes of this study are recommended as steps for related agencies to help caregivers of autistic children to improve their resilience in the future.
