Abstract

The key elements of faith in Islam include Tawhid (belief in the oneness of Allah), acceptance of His messengers and scriptures, belief in the afterlife, and belief in divine destiny, all of which are sourced from the Quran and Hadith. Understanding and instilling these concepts in children plays a crucial role in shaping their values, morals, and personalities. Faith serves as the foundation for moral and ethical development, conveying positive values such as honesty, justice, and compassion. Additionally, faith functions as a source of psychological resilience, providing inner strength for children to face life's challenges, helping them differentiate between good and evil, encouraging gratitude, and strengthening social bonds by instilling values of solidarity and compassion. This article explores the concept of "faith" (iman) in Islam, focusing on its importance and challenges in the development of children.  However, there are challenges in instilling this faith. External influences such as secular education, media, and peer pressure can be significant obstacles. Exposure to conflicting values and misleading content, along with secular curricula, may undermine the emphasis on religious education. Peer influence, especially in the digital and materialistic era, also creates challenges in maintaining a balance between worldly goals and religious values. In conclusion, understanding these challenges is essential for parents, educators, and society to develop strategies that promote a balanced approach to education, aligning secular knowledge with Islamic values. Recommendations include integrating religious education with secular curricula, active parental involvement, the use of positive media, forming supportive communities, and training teachers to understand and integrate faith values in their teaching. By doing so, society can raise children who excel academically and are rooted in strong Islamic values.
