Mosque is an institution that plays important roles as a center of worship and the development of knowledge. The mosque is also a house of worship for Muslims to perform congregational prayers alongside as an agent to unite the community through its outreach programs. The role of the mosque includes as an Islamic educational institution that provides various studies related to Islam for every age and position in the Muslim community. The Kota Kinabalu City Mosque is the famous mosque in Malaysia and has been awarded several awards for its role and contribution towards developing of the community based on local wisdom by transforming the functions of the mosque as a center for Islamic education, community, economy and tourism as well as religious lectures organized by the management. This purpose of this research is to analyze the role and contribution of the management of Kota Kinabalu City Mosque in the revitalization of the mosque. The study was conducted using qualitative methods through interviews and content analysis. The successes achieved by the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque are the 2009 National Mosque, the 2011 National Innovation Mosque, the Sabah State and National Excellent Mosque, and the 2023 Excellent Benchmark Mosque award showed the success of the organized implementation of the mosque management. Thus, the mosque becomes a symbol of strength of the ummah covering economic, social, educational and tourism as well as dignifying the teachings of Islam through the institution of the mosque.
