Ihsan Ilahi Zahir bin Zuhur Ilahi Aḥmad al-Dīn bin Nadham was a Salafi scholar and a pioneer of a movement that preventing deviant teachings and superstitious in religion. He was also a master in almost all branches of Islamic knowledge including tafsir, hadith, fiqh, aqidah; as well as Arabic language which he mastered excellently. Most importantly, he is known through his commitments in the field of da’wah and his role in defending the true teaching of Islam from the fabrication of other teachings like the Qadiani, Baha’iyyah, Babiyyah, Isma’iliyyah and Shi’i’. His efforts in defending Islam by the means of writings, sermons, seminars and other means had a big impact on Muslim sects especially the Syi’i’. This paper is meant to discuss and analyse one of the controversial topics under the light of Shi’i’s deviant understanding of the sahabah (companions). It will analyse two main topics which are the concepts of sahabah (companion) from Shi’i’s perspective, and Ihsan Ilahi Zahir’s critics regarding the concept.
