The current study aimed to explore the effectiveness of distance e-learning in teaching and learning Arabic by non-native speakers at An-Najah's Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Institute. The study adopted a descriptive approach utilizing quantitative and qualitative methods. The study sample consisted of a focus group of students who participated in the distance education course held in the year 2020/2021, the number of which was (20) participants, who were participating remotely in their home countries (Britain, Spain, America, Italy, France, Denmark and Greece). The tools included a set of closed and open items raised in the focus group utilizing Zoom. The results of the study showed that the students’ use of distance-learning tools in learning the Arabic language and their assessment of its benefits scored a high degree, as well as the total degree of their use, except for social networks use which scored medium. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant and positive relationship between the study sample's use of distance e-learning tools and their estimation of their benefits in learning the Arabic language. Results also revealed that the effectiveness of distance e-learning in teaching and learning the Arabic language to non-native speakers was high in all items of the three domains (developing language skills, developing teaching and learning strategies, and achieving flexibility in teaching and learning) as well as the total degree of all domains. The results, furthermore, revealed sample views about the best advantages of employing distance e-learning tools in teaching and learning the Arabic language, the difficulties they faced, and some suggestions to deal with the challenges.
