Special Issue T&C

PROPOSAL FOR A SPECIAL ISSUE IN GJAT

Submission of a proposal for a Special Issue must include the following:

1. The title of the Special or Thematic Issue, Conference, Symposium, Event or Special Project.

2. The date of the Conference/Symposium/Event/Special Project.

3. The name of the Organizer/Proposer and the organization.

4. The total number of papers expected to be published (usually 12-15 per special issue).

5. The scope(s) of the papers (briefly explain how the issue fits with the scope of the journal, i.e. Islamic-based topics related to S&T, SS, and A&H)

6. Rational (500-700 words) explaining the intended focus, significance, and novelty of the proposed Special/Thematic Issue).

7. List of possible topics in the proposed Special Issue.

8. The name of a Guest Editor/s (name, title, affiliation/s, mobile, office telephone, and emails (official and personal) contact information. The Guest Editor is responsible for handling and management of all papers of the special issue. The maximum number of Guest Editor is three.

5. Publication cost/fee (effective December 2024 onwards): RM35,000 per issue based on 12-15 papers. Subsequence addition will incur a further RM3,000 per accepted paper for local Malaysian authored papers and USD15,000/GBP12,000/EUR14,000 for non-Malaysian authored papers. If the number of papers is less than 12, the papers may be published in the regular issue. The charge is according to the regular issue as per stated in the GJAT website.

 

SPECIAL ISSUE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

      1. Objective

To invite relevant and reputable researchers from Malaysia or abroad to submit papers on any new and emerging topic related to Islam or with Islamic elements that fall within the scope and aim of the Global Journal Al-Thaqafah (GJAT).

      2. Targeted Guest Editor/s

Any academia, scientist or university/research institution researchers from local Malaysian or international Universities around the world with the Scopus H-index of 3 and above.

      3. Number of Papers Per Issue

A minimum of 12 and maximum 15 papers consist of “Original” and “Non- Ori” format of articles

The authors of the selected articles must reflect diversity and globalization, (at least 20-30% international and 70-80% local based on the 1st/principal and/or corresponding author)

Permits up to a maximum of three (3) manuscripts by the same author in one issue; provided the author sequence differs in each manuscript, e.g.

      5. Review Process

It will be carried out by the EiC and GJAT team of Editorial and International Scientific Advisory Board Members using the suggested reviewers’ names provided by the Guest Editor/s. He/She will decide to decline/change the reviewers or suggest additional reviewers, where required. After receiving the reviewers’ reports, the Guest Editor/s will decide to accept or reject the paper. However, the final decision will be decided by the GJAT’s Editor-in-Chief.

If the Guest Editor/s submits any paper to his/her own Special Issues, then review process will be carried out by the GJAT team without sharing any information to the Guest Editor/s.

      6. Paper Formatting

Scholarly papers intended for publication in GJAT must be written in the IMRAD format. The maximum length of an “Original” research article should not exceed 6,000 words and “Non-Ori”/Review article 8,000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, and/or figures. Please refer to the Instruction to Authors for sample and reference.

The GJAT employ a plagiarism detection system. By submitting your paper to this journal, you accept that your manuscript may be screened for plagiarism    against    previously    published    works.     The     GJAT does NOT accept any paper which similarity index (SI) exceeds 20%.

      7. Request a Special Issue

Papers accepted in the Special Issue can be published with on-going issues of the related GJAT twice yearly.

      8. Workshop for Author/s (where & if required)

If the manuscript submitted by the authors does not follow GJAT’s format and quality or minimal standard, every author or representative author for each manuscript must participate in a 1-3 days’ workshop on how to write and publish a quality GJAT manuscript according to the format, quality and standard required by the EiC. The workshop will cost between RM 300-500/hr/day honorarium/fee/charge depending on the number of papers and participants.

      9. Publication Fee/Charge/Cost

The publication cost for a Special Issue (12 to 15 manuscripts) is RM35,000 (Ringgit Malaysia: Thirty-Five Thousand) for local Malaysian authored papers and USD15,000/GBP12,000/EUR14,000 for non- Malaysian authored papers. The cost is however dependent upon two scenarios.

GJAT journal is currently online. Hard copies print will be given upon request at an additional cost/extra charge. The exact amount is usually indicated once the quotation is prepared based on the exact number of manuscripts accepted. The amount must be paid in full prior to the release of the online (PDF) version of the issue.

      10. Terms of Reference (TOR) & Conditions

           [10. 1] All articles are to be written in English, Malay, or Arabic. The non-English written articles may not exceed a total of four (4) articles.

           [10.2] GJAT’s Special Issues are normally published twice a year, either in July or in December. Submissions of fully reviewed articles to GJAT are expected by May and October of the year, respectively.

           [10.3] The English used in all articles must be of publishable quality. As such, all articles (subject to a maximum of 14 nos.) intended for the SI must have been fully and thoroughly proof-read before any submission to GJAT.

           [10.4] Owning institution must identify and select its own expert reviewers for every relevant field/subject area of the articles. The brief CVs/profiles/resumes of each expert reviewer must accompany the submission of the articles when submitting to GJAT.

           [10.5] Owning institution is responsible for selecting and appointing its own two (2) expert reviewers per article and having each SI article reviewed by the two reviewers prior to any submission to GJAT.

           [10.6] Submission to GJAT of all fully reviewed articles (fully amended & final publishable drafts) must each be accompanied by the original draft containing all comments and corrections made by the expert reviewers.

           [10.7] The final draft of each article to be included in the proposed Special Issue will be subjected to a subsequent final review by the GJAT Editorial Board Members before the decision to publish is made.

           [10.8] Owning institution will be notified once GJAT makes the decision to publish the proposed Special Issue. A letter of acceptance for publication will be issued en bloc for all the articles for the Special Issue along with the request for a collective payment of the required fee and the individual copyright transfers.

           [10.9] GJAT reserves the right to publish or otherwise any proposed Special Issue edition and decision made by GJAT is final without prejudice.

           [10.10] Owning institution is responsible in ensuring that reviewers are truly credible experts in the fields of study related to the articles intended for publication.

           [10.11] Owning institution must ensure that all intended articles are genuine and original, have never been published or sent for publication elsewhere before, and meet the CA-WoS and Scopus written standard for publication.
