Abstract

Energy demand in Malaysia is increasing rapidly due to the development in industrial
sector and urbanization. Due to this, the energy sector could no longer depend on the fossil fuel resource. The availability of fossil fuel resource is limited and it has resulted in the price rate to be increasing from time to time. Today, the energy sector has started to shift their view into renewable energy in order to accommodate
the increase in energy demand. Solar energy source is considered as one of renewable energy elements with a bright future as an alternative energy source in electricity generation. Malaysia is a country that is endowed by Allah (s.w.t) with high amount of sunlight all along the year. This is to show that the potential to gain solar
energy technology is unlimited. Furthermore, this source is not controlled by any political power or international company. This paper aimed to assess the potential in utilization of solar energy technology in electricity generation to the environment in Islamic perspective. This paper also discusses the action plan from the Malaysian government for the renewable energy within these ten years.
