Abstract

This is a study of the unity of the Islamic world in both meaning (culture) and structure (geography). In the first part of the study, the travelogue of the Moroccan Ibn Battuta is used as an illustration of the cultural unity of the Islamic civilization, and the second part “crescent/bow” geographical theory of The Egyptian geopolitician Gamal Hamdan is taken as a nucleus of an Islamic geopolitical theory. Malek Bennabi’s coined phrase “from Tangier to Jakarta” is also seen here as significant description the structural unity of the Islamic world.
