Euphemisms in the Qur’an are linguistic and rhetorical tools that contain implicit and figurative meanings. These features make the translation process more difficult and challenging. This study aims to identify the problems and solutions in the translation of Qur’anic euphemisms into the Malay language. Contrastive and descriptive analysis were used to analyse the data, combining Olimat's (2018) Model of Assessment for Translating Qur’anic Euphemisms and Newmark's (1981) Semantic and Communicative Theory. The study found that some translations did not accurately convey the meaning of the words, even with the use of parentheses for explication, as some translations still fell short of the lexical function of the words, causing discrepancies in communicating the intended meaning. Furthermore, some translations did not comply with the targeted language context of the words. Therefore, translators need to ensure their approach and language choice match the targeted readers’ ability and pragmatic competency. Overall, the translation of Qur’anic euphemisms into Malay needs to consider five aspects: delivering the true meaning, subtle use of terminology, adherence to grammar rules, effective word choice, and appropriate translation approaches. This study offers valuable insights to researchers of the Qur’an and provides pedagogical implications particularly in the translation of Qur’anic verses into Malay.
